Instead of trying to post daily on Facebook, Instagram, or Reddit (I will still post on X since there is free speech there) I will be posting updates here more often. Why? Due to the fact that either Facebook or other platforms are flagging firearm and ammo related posts or anti gun individuals or groups reporting our posts and causing us to be put in "Facebook Jail" for several days or a month. I heard they started using AI in December of 2023 to detect anything that is in possible violation to their rules. This blocks us from posting or restricts our post for the duration of the jail (restricted) time. This happens even though we have proof we are a license firearms dealer. Eventually the page will be removed from the platform if there are too many violations. They ignore the fact that most illegal activity happens in privates groups and messenger.
Another issue is even though we have thousands of followers on Facebook only a few hundred actually see our posts in their news feed. Facebook, Instagram and others limit post from pages like ours. The only way for those 1000's of followers to see our posts would be to go to our Facebook page daily. Well since this is the case and appears as though there is no hope of any changes in the future we decided to use this method instead.
FYI: 2024 has been a hard year so far for firearms related posts on Facebook and Instagram. Gun Owners Of Maine has been hit hard and is in danger of losing their Facebook group page. I have been hit several times with violations since December. We will have to use pages like this, Blogs, Forums, or other Social Media platforms that are far less popular but do not have the restrictions META platforms have.

What will be posted here?
Updates on shipments, changes in hours (Google is the best place to look), price changes, policy changes, gun related news, or anything else that the owner feels is important. All without social media limiting our free speech.

This will not replace these pages:

I will be closed on most Saturdays but appointments can be made if you know what you want see the appointment page also. I have happy to announce I will be a grandfather in July. No I have a my grandparents house to get ready for the new family by the end of May. I will have many meeting with contractors and doing much work myself. I will only be a 2 or 3 miles from the shop. I have to have weekends to do any work. If I am open on a Saturday my day is gone most do not realize the paperwork involved after I close on a Saturday. I only have Sunday off and a lot of times I am in here working on Sunday also when I am open on a Saturday.

THE BEST THIS TO DO IT ALWAYS CHECK MY BUSINESS HOURS ON GOOGLE. I might post on Facebook, X, or on here or the hours page but GOOGLE WILL ALWAYS BE UPDATED.

FYI  MY PHONE NUMBER IS CHANGING TO A DIFFERENT CARRIER. I HARDLY EVER USE 207-848-4995. Most customers email me or use my text number posted on this website. Well 207-848-4995 will be a mobile text number also starting this week. I have to get everything set up which may take a few days. You can still call it but it will no longer be a landline. My phones in the shop will be removed. I could not pay over $100 dollars a month for a phone I never used. I wanted to keep the number and have it active for text messages and calling out. Answering calls is VERY hard for me as I am one person and I have a lot to manage. Email and test works great for me and my responses are generally quick.

FYI, Consolidated was charging me over 100 a month for my landline. I just added my business number to my cellphone for $10 a month so now I have two business numbers that can be used for text messaging. I still have not set up any voice mail message on my business number. I prefer customers use text or email. I have a Blocker on my phone so it only rings when people on my contacts list call. I did not know but this applies to my business number as well and there's no way to change that. At least that I found. I get so many potential spam calls that I can't have my phone ringing all day and all night especially with two phone numbers. I am going to keep that setting unless something changes. As you know I have hardly any time to answer the phone anyways.

I am still closed on the weekends I have work to finish still at the other house and they should be moving in April 1st. I then will be working on projects at our house, work on rental property and projects at camp on the weekends. Since I have no family (no brothers, uncles, and so on to help. Have two daughters that are not carpenters) I cannot be open. I wish I could clone myself. I have 6 properties to keep track of so I can only be open during the week unless someone in the family wants to run it on a Saturday but I doubt that will happen. I am not going to hire someone to do it. Not worth it. I still have appointments for those that want to sell estate collections. Appointment for purchasing a gun I am not sure. I only make 25-50 dollars on a gun since I have a low profit margin. Not sure if it is worth pulling away from a project that I am in the middle of to make 25-50 dollars especially if I am not working here. Sorry.

Over the past couple of days, we have received the information below from Ammunition Manufacturers.

Communication from Hornady

As you know Hornady over the years Hornady has worked diligently to maintain stable pricing and avoid mid-year price increases. Unfortunately, due to sustained increases in copper and other key metal (zinc) input costs, we find ourselves in a situation that requires a hard-stop price increase effective June 1, 2026.

Affected categories will increase 3–7%:

•                          Hornady Bullets

•                          Hornady Cases

•                          Hornady & Frontier Loaded Ammunition

Communication from The Kinetic Group

Due to continued cost increases and volatility of key raw materials and fuel, we will be implementing a price adjustment across our ammunition brands effective June 1st, 2026. This adjustment will apply to our Blazer, CCI, Federal, Fiocchi, Remington, and SPEER ammunition lines.

The following increases will apply:

•                          Rifle Ammunition – STD/Promo: 3%

•                          Handgun Ammunition - Promo: 3%

CHECK OUT OUR NEW UPDATED WAITING PERIOD POLICY!! Now you can use the Checkout system!!!! After a lot of work making changes to the website I made it happen!!

Join the 100's that have joined the approved customer list. If you join that list, I will hold the item(s) you wish to purchase for 72 hours up to 4 days.
No matter what method you chose, such as sending an email agreement, going through the checkout process (yes, I just developed a checkout process for pickup), or other methods. Don't miss out on that hard to find item. Since my website is up to date everyday throughout the day with in-store inventory and pricing. See the waiting period policy on the website to learn how. I am thankful I have website development skills, and I'll continue to work on making the process easier.

Constantly updating the waiting period policy page. I have had good success with customers using the checkout process. Very smooth and easy! If you use the checkout process it is no different than you coming in to buy something you saw in stock on my website. No waiting! Just go though the checkout process and coming in 72hrs later or within 4 days. There are other ways also to avoid the wait even if you have not made a decision yet. See the waiting period policy.

ATTN: OUR FFL WILL BE EXPIRING JULY 1ST
AND WILL BE RENEWING. WE DO NOT HAVE THE TIME TO SEND OUR FFL TO EVERY DEALER AND MFG IN THE COUNTRY THAT HAD US ON FILE PREVIOUSLY SO YOU WILL HAVE TO EMAIL US AND REQUEST OUR FFL TO BE SENT. You must supply the email address and contact information of the person I need to send it to. I may need order info also.

8/2/2026

I just saw that the competition is having a customer appreciation day. It's funny they treat customer terribly and don't care about their customers the rest of the year. I charge as low as 15 dollars for transfers and they charge 70. On a gun they should give someone 600 dollars for buy or trade they offer 200. Their mark up is outrageous and everything. I have a very low mark up on some ammo my mark up is a few dollars and my firearms are marked up 30-100 with most at the 45-50 dollar mark. How do I know they have high mark up? I have customers complain about the service and the prices everyday. They compare my prices with the other and are shocked sometimes by the difference. They tell me how much they hate the place. I get feedback all the time and not just from the place in Holden but others places as well. I work hard to give customers the best service and prices.

Waiting period update from GOME

Many of you have emailed GOME in recent weeks asking about updates to the Waiting Period lawsuit. To our dismay there wasn't any information we could share - not because we knew something that you didn't, but because there quite literally wasn't anything to tell. As of today, that changes.

As most of you know, the NSSF (National Shooting Sports Foundation) is leading the lawsuit on behalf of Maine citizens. As these cases go, it is slowly moving through the court system. The first battle has been securing an injunction to put a hold on the law while the case is fought out. This is why we briefly had a waiting period, until Judge Walker ruled that the law should be put on hold because he deemed that, based on the Second Amendment and existing case law, we would win the actual battle of striking down this Maine law. As you can imagine, the Attorney General of Maine objected to that injunction and requested an appeal to the Maine District Court to reinstate the law while the larger battle plays out. As we expected, the Maine District Court sided with Judge Walker, and the injunction was upheld, meaning that we still didn't have a waiting period.... while the larger battle plays out.

Guess what - the Attorney General STILL didn't like that ruling, and appealed to the federal district court in Boston to overturn the injunction. As anyone might have guessed, a Massachusetts-based court sided against firearm freedom, and reinstated the 72 hour waiting period. That is currently why you must wait 72 hours before collecting your firearms after agreeing to a purchase.

That brings us up to yesterday, when the NSSF submitted a "petition for certiorari" to the Supreme Court to take up our current injunction case. This is a long shot, as the Court only takes around 60 cases a year; however, ours is unique in its simplicity, and with the court already taking on a few other firearm rights cases, this one could make it in. There will be some back and forth with Maine's AG, before a decision is made. If the Supreme Court decides not to hear the case, the NSSF drops back to Judge Walker (who already ruled in our favor) to hear the main merits of the case and rule on the law's legality.

I know this has been wordy, but I wanted to ensure everyone was up to speed. Sadly, this is how the legal system works - lawsuits and court cases take years to resolve. This is why we need to vote for pro-firearm rights legislators in November. It's much faster and much cheaper to stop, change, or remove these laws at our state level rather than through lawsuits. Get out the vote—donate to GOME's PAC where we can put your money to work supporting those who support Gun Owners of Maine - you.
