Gun Firearm Cleaning Services Maine

GUN CLEANING : Disassemble, clean, and inspect all internal and external parts. We will suggest any recommended repairs if needed. If the firearms is not working properly it may need to go to a gunsmith. (handguns and long guns only no muzzleloaders)

How it Works
Bring your gun(s) into our gun store any time you want them cleaned and we will clean them for you. Our goal will be to give the gun(s) an operational cleaning. So your gun(s) will be field stripped, cleaned thoroughly and lubricated. Be prepared to leave the gun(s) for a few days. We will contact you as soon as the job has been completed. Have an antique or vintage firearm that has rust on it? We can clean the firearm without effecting the value. Improper cleaning can ruin the value of any antique or vintage firearm. We may charge more for this service depending on how bad the firearm is.

GUNSMITH SERVICES :

We are not a gunsmith so we do not repair guns. Of course I always recommend sending a fiream back to the manufacturer many have lifetime warranties but they do not specify it such as Ruger.

TROUBLE SHOOTING A SEMI AUTO HANDGUN:

Here are are some quick things to check before sending your firearm back to the manufacturer or taking it to a gunsmith.

- Did you try different ammo? Not all ammo will function properly in semi auto handguns especially those that are in rimfire calibers. Try different grains and brands. If you are using steel cased or aluminum cased ammo try brass cased. If you are using reloads try factory ammo. Reloads can cause issues such as casings being stuck in the chamber and have a failure to extract.
- Did you try different magazines? Sometimes you will get a defective magazine.
- Have you cleaned and lightly lubed the firearm?
- Limp wristing is a common problem. Hold your arms out stiff with a firm grip on the firearm when firing.  More the gun moves when firing the greater the chance of malfuction. You want the energy of firing to transfer into the action of the firearm not through your hands and arms. Don't hold a handgun loosely.
- Have you broken in the firearm? Shooting the firearm the recommended amount to break in the gun. Break in periods can be 200 rounds or more depending on the manufacturer. Some manufacturers will not look at the gun until the minumum amount of break in shots be fired through it.

FIREARMS STORAGE:

We do not offer this service to out of state residents. FYI If you drop any handgun off to a dealer in Maine you will not be able to get it back (if you are not a Maine resident) without sending it back to an FFL in your state. At that point a transfer would have to be performed. We can only sell or transfer handguns to state of Maine residents. In order to get your firearm back you would have to go through a background check. Background checks can only be legally done on handguns for Maine residents. Long guns are ok to perform storage and can be reclaimed only if the firearm is legal in your state of residence. We do not perform this service.

SHIPPING FIREARMS:

We do offer USPS shipping of firearms to licensed dealers. We prefer to ship handguns but we will ship long guns as long as we have a box available to do so. Long guns are much more time consuming to package (reinforcing the barrel end so it does not break through the end of the box) and there is a lot to think of when packaging them. If you want to package them yourself but leave the box open so I can access the make, model, caliber, and serial number that is a possibility. The length, width, height, and weight of a package can dramatically effect the cost of shipping.

Did you know that UPS and Fedex no longer allow private individuals to ship firearms through them? USPS will not allow private individuals to ship handguns through them but will allow private individuals to ship longuns BUT many dealers will no accept firearms shipped from a private party. They will refuse the package and you will have to reship the item through a dealer.

- The cost to ship a handgun is $25.00 paperwork and packing fee per firearm plus a $25.00 (each) for USPS Priority Mail shipping on a standard length handgun. So a total of $50.00 to ship one std sized handgun. Handguns must be shipped via a 2 or 3 day service. Handguns cannot be shipped via standard ground shipping. Insurance is about a $1.00 or $1.50 per $100 value. If you are shipping more that one handgun the shipping cost may change depending on several factors. If you have more than one handgun to ship it is always best to come in for a quote.

- The cost to ship a long gun
is $45.00 (Starting price. Some I may charge more) paperwork and packing fee per firearm (Assuming I have the box to do so. Long guns can take a lot of work to package correctly) plus $35.00 - $60.00 for USPS standard ground shipping depending on the length, width, height, and weight of the package. So a total of $80 to ship one std sized long gun. Destination is also a consideration. Insurance is about a $1.00 or $1.50 per $100 value.  If you are shipping more that one long gun the cost may change depending on several factors. You can package the long guns up yourself but I need to be able to pull them out of the packaging in order to get information off the firearms. I do not use Priority Mail for shipping long guns due to the risk of damage due to rough handling.

We will only ship firearms to the lower 48 states. No shipping to Alaska, California, or Hawaii.
We do not ship ammunition, primers, or powder.
We must have a copy of your dealers license on file in order to ship a firearm to them. Firearms cannot be shipped to private party.
We must have a file copy of the FFL for the dealer you want us to ship to. They can email that to us.

CONSIGNMENT:

We do offer consignment. Fee stucture below.

For firearms sold for up to $1000 - 20% consignment fee. Minimum Fee of $45 charge (this is for items that are of lesser value). Fees for any additional amounts over $1000 drops to 15%. These fees are applied per firearm. Remember I absorb the credit card fees which are 1-4%. I do not charge buyers premiums so typically the items sell for more than through an auction company which can charge the buyer 13-25%. This causes the bidding to be lower.
Example: If an item has sold for $1000 the fee is $200
Example: If an item has sold for $1500 the fee is $200 (20% of a $1000) plus $75 (15% of $500) = $275
GUN BROKER:
If the item is sold on Gun Broker any auction fees that we are charged will be removed from the selling price and then the above fees are charged. Online selling requires a lot of picture taking, time listing the items, answering questions, sending an invoice, processing payments, and shipping the item.  Typically guns sell much quicker on Gun Broker.

If the item does not sell we will must perform a background check to return the item or items back to you. A $15 cash or $20 cc transfer fee will apply when the background check is done. Multiple handgun transfers will have an additional $15 cash or $20 cc fee applied. Items that were to be sold online that did not sell will be subject to Gun Broker auction listing fees (are not that much if it does not sell) and a $20.00 fee for my time listing the item in addition to the transfer fee.

We do purchase firearms as well.
