Why buy a factory built AR?
- Brand Recognition : Many have not heard of the companies building AR parts or Custom AR rifles but everyone has heard of Bushmaster, Colt, Stag, Windham Weaponry, Smith & Wesson, Ruger and others. Local shops have local name recognition and most of them don't even use parts with their name on them. They just slap a bunch of parts together.
- Quality Parts : When you buy an AR that is factory made you know that all the components are made to the manufacturers quality standards which maybe higher than many of the manufacturers of components out there. Who makes the parts and where do they come from? Manufactures such as Bushmaster, Colt, Stag, Windham Weaponry, Smith & Wesson, Ruger and others have prints made of the firearms and all components going in them. They require the components to meet the tolerances specified on the print such as the hardness of the bolt. They want the best quality and fit. When an individual builds an AR or a local shop builds an AR for you they just buy the parts from the cheapest supplier or various suppliers and slap them together. They have no prints or specifications for the components they are using. The part may be mil spec but does the company have good quality control. What is the variation in the sizes of the components and hardness of the bolts? How good is the fit between the upper and lower? What is the quality of the barrel?
- Warranty : Most factory built AR's have a year warranty up to a lifetime warranty like Windham Weaponry for example.
- Resale : When you sell a factory made AR the resale value is much higher and the value be found online and in books. Dealers also give you more for a factory built AR. I personally do not buy and take any trades that are not factory built. When you buy a built AR you are buying the parts not a firearms. If you don't know exactly what the parts are you are not going to know the true value. It is hard to put a value on a built AR. For investment purposes buy a factory built AR.

Alterations & Modifications Warning
Altering or modifying parts is dangerous and will void the warranty. This DPMS Firearms, LLC rifle was manufactured to perform properly with the original parts as designed. It is your duty to make sure any parts you buy are made for this rifle and are installed correctly and that neither the originals nor the replacements are altered or changed. Your DPMS Firearms, LLC rifle is a complex precision tool with many parts that must relate correctly with other parts in order for proper and safe operation. Putting a rifle together wrong or with incorrect or modified parts can result in a damaged rifle, serious personal injury or death to you and others through malfunction. Always have a qualified gunsmith work on your rifle or at least check any work not performed by a gunsmith.
To achieve the best results for accuracy you should clean the chamber and bore after every round for the first 25 rounds, then every 10 rounds up to 100 rounds. It usually takes about 200 rounds per barrel for optimum accuracy. Please keep in mind that our barrels are production barrels, not custom barrels. Accuracy is dependent upon many factors such as bullet weight, powder load, rifling twist, rifling lands, operator technique, etc. Our production barrels have achieved anywhere from .125" to 1.5" M.O.A.. Obviously, we would hope that every production barrel would shoot .5" M.O.A., but with all of the above factors, we cannot guarantee a specific group size. NOTE: Using reloaded ammunition will void warranty. Modifying chamber or barrel voids warranty. This includes re-reaming of chamber, re-turning barrel to a lesser diameter and/or re-threading barrel for compensator or attachments.
